GILBERTO MALTINTI

Photojournalist and musician, born in Rome, 56 years old. A Conservatory graduate in double bass and holder of a degree in Ethnomusicology, he is a photographer and editor for travel, lifestyle, current affairs and gastronomy magazines. His photographs offer a personal reading of places, stories, objects and people.
From Northern European architecture to the countless faces of a city, his photos speak of contemporary atmospheres.
For 16 years, Gilberto Maltinti has been the owner of PARIOLI FOTOGRAFIA, a photography studio and school in Rome.
He collaborates and has collaborated with the publishing groups Rizzoli Publishing, Espresso: Dove, Dove Case, Style, I Viaggi and Il Venerdì di Repubblica, Velvet, with the German publishing group Spotlight Verlag/Adesso, and with the monthly magazine Leggere:Tutti. He has taken part in recent editions of FOTOGRAFIA International Photography Festival of Rome.
In 2016 he won first prize in the second edition of the “La mia Città Solidale” photo contest, organized by Roma Capitale and Fondazione Roma Solidale. In March 2019 he was the creator and co-organizer of Mese della Fotografia a Roma, a unique event that brought together for the first time more than 300 Roman photography organizations, offering free activities related to the state of the art of photography in the capital, with exhibitions, talks, workshops, lessons and book presentations.
A passion for photography
He is president of the Associazione Casa della Fotografia di Roma, with which he conceived and organized WEFO2020, Weekend Fotografici — a Month of Photography in Rome: exhibitions and film screenings from September to October 2020. He created and organizes RIPA, Roma International Photo Award, an international photography prize.
He produced and directed the short film “Buon Appetito! Buon Appetito, sì”, dedicated to the volunteer associations that, during the first pandemic between March and May 2020, helped homeless people every day by distributing food and clothing. The film was screened during WEFO2020.
Since 2021 he has collaborated with the Associazione Roma Fotografia, led by Maria Cristina Valeri and Alex Mezzenga, in organizing annual photography events: international photo calls, exhibitions, talks and meetings with authors, in collaboration with the magazine Il Fotografo, Istituto Luce Cinecittà, the Festival della Fotografia Etica in Lodi, the Biennale di Fotografia al Femminile in Mantova, and Camera Service Canon Authorized Center. Notable among them is Piazza della Fotografia, a 4-month event dedicated to photographic culture held in Piazza Santa Maria in Trastevere, Rome, under the patronage of the I Municipality of Rome and projected on a 40-square-meter maxi-LED screen.
Together with Maria Cristina Valeri and Alex Mezzenga, he ran Bresciani Visual Art Gallery in central Rome, near Via Giulia — an open space dedicated to contemporary visual arts.
